OSHA 10-Hour Training Offered at Penn State DuBois and Altoona This August
Designed for entry-level workers, the course covers OSHA standards, hazard prevention, and worker rights across multiple industries.

Penn State DuBois and Penn State Altoona will host in-person sessions of the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training this August, offering critical instruction for entry-level workers across a wide spectrum of industries. Registration is now open for both locations.
Recommended by OSHA for employees in manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, and general industry sectors, the 10-hour program equips workers with foundational knowledge to recognize, avoid, and prevent workplace hazards. The course also covers worker rights, employer responsibilities, and essential practices for fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
Led by OSHA-authorized instructors, the training includes modules on:
- Introduction to OSHA
- Fall protection
- Exit routes and fire prevention
- Electrical safety
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Hazard communication
- Material handling
- Machine guarding
- Lockout/tagout procedures
- Hearing protection
- Training Dates and Locations
John Brennan, director of the Penn State Altoona/DuBois Workforce Development Collaborative, emphasized the program's relevance in today’s evolving work environments.
“Workplace safety is a top priority for any organization,” Brennan said. “This course provides workers with the tools and knowledge they need to identify hazards and prevent accidents before they happen. It’s a strong investment in both employee well-being and organizational performance.”
This offering marks the inaugural program under the new Workforce Development Collaborative. Brennan noted its significance as a starting point for broader engagement.
